Sweet Cheeks Gelato

It’d been a while since I’d been to any ice cream parlours in the Jalan Besar area and Sweet Cheeks has long been on my list of places to check out.

Sadly, the Waffle here didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Although the inside was light and airy, it was a little bit on the softer side, lacking in its usual crispiness, as though it wasn’t quite baked long enough.

The gelato flavours here weren’t overly original, with choices such as Honeycomb, Banana Walnut Brownie or Marshmallow Oreo. I went for the Hazelnut and Chocolate Gelato, which were pretty standard fare, nothing too outstanding.

It’s worth noting that the gelato here is made from oat milk, so if you’re lactose-intolerant then this place, like Smoocht, makes for a good dairy-free alternative.

The ambience of the café is also one of the upsides. Brightly lit and spacious, there are plenty of seats to choose from, even when the place gets busy, and the furniture is comfortable and minimalist.

It stays open fairly late, too, if you ever find yourself fancying something (heh) sweet after a late dinner.
