Rise

Rise, a new cafe in Potong Pasir, is sure to become a favorite among locals with its vibrant and inviting decor that blends rustic charm with contemporary flair. The location is also a plus, just a few minutes’ walk from the MRT station.

While Rise offers a decent selection of coffee and tea, the true highlight is their wide range of freshly baked goodies, including brownies, scones, teacakes, tarts and sliced cakes. Of course, being the waffle enthusiast that I am, I couldn’t resist trying their Brown Butter Waffles first.

These didn’t disappoint, with the delightfully crispy exterior giving way to a slightly fluffy interior. Though the waffle had a fairly distinct baking soda taste to it, which I rather disliked, the ample serving of maple syrup on the side balanced things out nicely.

If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on the Tiramisu for dessert. The ladyfingers retained their shape and weren’t too soggy, while the creamy mascarpone cheese added a luxurious touch.

Overall, Rise is a must-visit for anyone in the area looking for freshly baked treats or a delicious waffle fix. With its cosy atmosphere and friendly staff, it’s the perfect spot for a casual afternoon catch-up with friends or a quiet moment alone with a good book (provided the place doesn’t get too busy).
