Hundred Acre Creamery

Hundred Acre Creamery is a unique Winnie the Pooh-themed café run by friendly Vietnamese owners, that specialises in hand-churned artisanal ice cream, as well as authentic Vietnamese desserts and coffee.

As you’d probably expect from the theme, the décor is cosy and nostalgic, and the ambience it produces is pleasant. The selection of gelato is fresh and varied, with a dozen or more flavours to choose from.

Belgian Waffle with Earl Grey Mandarin Orange Gelato ($9.50)

The Waffle: I can’t plate a dish to save my life, as shown by the horrible job I did pouring the chocolate and maple syrup on top of the waffle, but don’t let my half-baked presentation (or photography skills) fool you – this was a really good waffle that was light and buttery while still having a satisfyingly crisp bite. 4/5

The Ice Cream: The Earl Grey Mandarin Orange gelato I picked paired well with the waffle, packing a great combination of strong tea and sweet, citrusy flavour. 4/5

Vietnamese Drip Coffee ($4.50)

The Coffee: The Vietnamese drip coffee was decent, but not impressive enough that I would regularly shell out almost five bucks for it – especially when there are better options like Trung Nguyen, which also serves Viet espresso, and to a higher standard. 3/5

Dalat ($9)

The Other Dessert:  The Dalat, on the other hand—a sweet, creamy dessert made from butter avocadoes imported from the Vietnamese city of its namesake, and topped with rich coconut sorbet—was delicious. I’d hesitate to say this was worth the comparatively hefty price tag of $9, but then I enjoyed it enough that I’d probably get it again in the future. 4.5/5

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a place that serves good waffles, ice cream and Viet desserts, and has a friendly atmosphere, Hundred Acre Creamery is definitely the place to visit.
