Gelatolabo

Gelatolabo. Does it offer more than a creatively designed froth at the top of a coffee cup? Well, the coffee was actually from Glass Roasters, which it partially shares shop space with.

Now, as delicious as that coffee might’ve been, I don’t feel I could attribute that aspect of my dining experience to Gelatolabo.

The Ice Cream (70% Guanaja Dark Chocolate & Valencia Orange Peel): I wasn’t entirely sold on this dessert, as appealing as it sounded. The chocolate and orange flavours were lacking, and I struggled to believe this was 70% dark chocolate. I dislike an overabundance of citrus in my ice cream, but there still wasn’t enough of that in this gelato, and that just made it taste bland.  2.5/5

The Waffle: According to the staff, this ‘mochi waffle’ was supposed to be soft and chewy on the inside, while being slightly crispy on the outside. Instead, it was just soft and chewy throughout, which is not what I expect from a good waffle, at all.  2.5/5

At the very least, I can’t fault this place for its ambiance. I liked the clean, modish decor of the cafe, even if the waffle and the ice cream did nothing for me. Would I come back? Sure, but only if I wanted coffee.
