Flash Coffee kiosks have been popping up all over the island lately, and I figured it was time I gave this Indonesia-based coffee chain a try – especially when I spotted waffles on its newly opened Guoco Tower outlet’s menu.
Belgian Waffle: This is more of a mini waffle, barely largely than the palm of your hand. At $2.80, the price is similar to a Krispy Kreme donut, which is fitting, because texture- and flavour-wise this tasted more like a KK donut than a conventional waffle. It was decent for what it was – a quick, cheap snack to go with your cuppa. 3/5
Nutella Latte: One of Flash Coffee’s signature drinks. Simply put, this rocks. They don’t scrimp on the Nutella syrup, so it literally tastes like you’re drinking Nutella in liquid form. If you actually want to taste the coffee, I’d recommend asking for less syrup. 4/5
Espresso Soda: This is one of those drinks that’s virtually impossible to screw up. It’s literally just espresso mixed with soda water over ice. A great pick-me-up, though it might be an acquired taste for some folks. 3.5/5
