Fishball noodles don’t exactly make you think of ice cream or waffles. Hell, they aren’t even in the same ballpark. But the people behind the famed Pandan Gardens Fishball Noodles brand are clearly also ice cream fans, because the bright, spacious, welcoming decor of My Little Ice-Cream Shop (located a short walk from the original PGFN stall) seems like it was conceptualised with love.
That being said, it’s a real shame that neither the waffles nor the ice cream here are very good.
Waffle with Chocolate & Vanilla Ice Cream ($8.80)Visiting My Little Ice-Cream Shop was, sadly, one of the biggest letdowns I’ve experienced.
Lured in by the aforementioned bright, welcoming decor, I was treated to a dainty, colourful display of sixteen or so flavours. Unfortunately, it all fell apart after I placed my order.
Other than looking pretty, the ice cream and waffles were just… bad. I went with the classic Chocolate & Vanilla combo for the ice cream, and they both tasted like your average King’s or Wall’s flavours (this is really not something I’d charge three bucks a scoop for). The waffles were very soft and squishy, and comparable to a PrimaDeli one – definitely not worth shelling out $4 for in my book.
If I had to list some redeeming qualities of this place, it’s that the ambience is very nice, they open till late every day (10:30 p.m.) and there are a fairly good range of toppings to choose from.
That’s about it.
