I’ve been coming to Kindred Folk since it first opened in KAP Residences last year, and a consistent problem with their ice cream is that it melts too quickly in Singapore’s hot weather.
This stuff has to be eaten fast, or you might end up with a plate or cone of goo in no time. I got a nice little snapshot from my latest trip here, but the pretty picture didn’t last long and toppled over in less than a minute. The result? Sticky fingers and ice cream dripping off the edge of my plate.
That said, Kindred Folk’s ice cream tastes pretty fantastic and has kept me constantly coming back for more. I guess the reason it melts so quickly is because of how soft and creamy it is.

There’s a varied selection of unique and creative flavors, like the Watermelon-Calamansi Sorbet – a light, refreshing treat that’s a perfect balance of sweet and zesty, and ideal for beating our infamous heat. 4/5
The Banana Crumble is another crowd-pleaser. Made with fresh bananas and loaded with homemade streusel, this ice cream is as smooth as it is crumbly and is absolutely chockful of flavour. 4.5/5

The waffle – the Red Velvet one, in particular – deserves a special mention for its unique texture. It was baked to a crisp on the outside, yet soft and lightly cakey on the inside; almost like souffle. I’m usually no fan of dense waffles with heavy mouthfeels, but this one worked. 4/5
