An American diner-style fast food joint located in Universal Studios Singapore, Goldilocks is probably known most for its fried chicken and “Shrek” waffle.
This is another waffle that’s a lot like the ones you find at A&W… only you’re paying more for this one for the novelty of having Shrek’s face on it. I can’t exactly complain, since you’d expect prices at a theme park restaurant to be jacked up anyway.
The waffle itself was surprisingly crispy and light, even with the addition of Shrek’s face, but a little bland, even with the addition of the chocolate sauce.
The fries and nuggets were about as average as I’d been expecting, but the fried chicken just staggered me in how much of a disappointment it was.
It looked as good as it did in the promo photos, but the skin was thin and greasy and severely underseasoned. Apart from tasting like it’d been in the fryer for too long, each piece of chicken was far too bland and in dire need of more marination. At least the chicken meat was tender and not that dry.
For a restaurant that’s supposed to specialise in fried chicken, this was a big letdown. But hey, if you’re feeling like an overpriced A&W-esque waffle Shrek’s face on it, this will do the trick.
