Mosanco Enchanted is a chain of cafes with a magical, fairy tale theme. Its latest outlet at Bukit Timah Plaza has moved in to fill the void left by Rise & Grind’s departure, and is open 24/7.
In contrast to the name, though, I didn’t find anything enchanting about the waffles here.
At $10.50 for a Chocolate Waffle with a scoop of ice cream (or $7.50 for the waffle on its own), you’re better off going to the nearest bakery and buying a loaf of bread, because that’s pretty much what this tasted like. And not particularly good bread, either. The batter was bland and the chocolate in it was weak. In fact, if not for the caramel sauce, there would hardly have been any flavour to the waffle at all.
At least the Hokkaido Milk Ice Cream was decently milky—but not enough to make me forget that I could honestly have gotten a better waffle at PrimaDeli or Swee Heng for a fraction of the price.
In the end, while I can’t recommend Mosanco for their waffles, I have heard good things about their mains and brunch, and they do have some nice happy hour deals on their booze. Not to mention, I can’t think of any restaurant in the area that’s open all day, every day (even Al-Azhar seems to have revised its operating hours due to the pandemic). So Mosanco does have that going for it.
