When I first read about Edith Patisserie opening a cafe outlet Dhoby Ghaut, I was eager to try their delectable-looking chocolate waffles and honey soft serve ice cream.
Almost a year on and I finally found myself in the area – unfortunately, the honey soft serve has been phased out. On the other hand, it’s been replaced by hojicha ice cream, which can be a delicious treat in its own right.

Edith’s Chocolate Waffle comes with a rather generous amount of rich-tasting chocolate brownie cubes and mini chocolate chip cookies (that taste very similar to Famous Amos’ cookies). The wonderfully sweet and nutty Hojicha Soft Serve rests on top of a crumbly wafer base that prevents the ice cream from melting too quickly and is topped off with a chocolate-coated Pepero almond stick.

Note that while these waffles are buttery and fragrant, they aren’t actually made out of chocolate and aren’t that crispy. They’d be merely decent waffles on their own, but combined with the rest of the ingredients comprising this dish it turned out to be one of the most satisfying desserts I’ve ever had. Apparently this is their most popular waffle, too. Clearly for good reason.
