When I swung by Havelock 2 to check out Char Seal Bar, I was planning on sampling their signature Japanese-style char siew bowls – but what really caught my eye when I started browsing the menu was the Truffle Char Siew Waffle, which has to be a first of its kind.
The combination of sweet and savoury flavours make this a perfect brunch dish.
Tender, juicy char siew is beautifully nestled on a crisp, golden buttermilk waffle, while the rich truffle sauce adds a luxurious touch and an extra dimension of flavour to the whole shebang.
If you’re a fan of fatty, extra-caramelised char siew that practically melts in your mouth, this restaurant is a must-try. It’s also a pretty good place to bring a date, since the pink, pastel decor makes it perpetually feel like Valentine’s Day when you’re dining here.
