Arteastiq DePatio

Known for its wood-fire baked pizzas and fragrant artisanal teas (served in perfume bottles, no less), Arteastiq DePatio is the place to be if you want a more indulgent restaurant experience.

While the menu is mostly Italian, there are a handful of French delicacies to try as well – including the unique-seeming Waffle French Toast, which is initially what drew me to check this place out, since waffles made in the style of French Toast was something totally new to me.

The ambience of the restaurant is pleasantly relaxing, with bright, garden-themed décor. It’s an excellent place to go with friends or family, or even take someone on a date.

Now onto the waffles. Spoiler alert – they were good. They have the appearance of a Liege waffle, but with a crispier and crumblier texture. For this dish, a fairly generous serving of brie cheese is sandwiched between two waffles and served with strawberries, berries compote and blueberry crumble, and topped with champagne vanilla gelato. The gelato itself is dense, creamy and just all-round fantastic.

This waffle is a good example of something being the sum of its parts. It felt like a new dish in its entirety, rather than simply being waffles with ice cream and various toppings. I’m not sure it actually tasted like French Toast, but it was definitely tasty, and highly recommended.
